  He Qing originates from Shanghai, China, where he graduated in 1983 from the ShangHai School of Arts (now Fine Art College of Shanghai University). After graduation, he stayed on as an instructor at the school for several years before moving to Japan in 1987. Continuing his studies, He Qing attended from Musashino University of Arts, graduating with a major in Oil Paintings.

In Japan, he was invited to produce works for the NHK Japan's national television station. While working for NHK, He Qing completed nearly a hundred pieces for broadcast on TV. At the same time, he also worked to create numerous murals and oil paintings for museums and galleries across Japan. He has also published a large number of books with major publishers such as Tokunshoten, Shogakukan, Shueisha and Asahishinbunsha, etc. His artwork is highly recognized and acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, making him one of the most famous Chinese artists in the Japanese publishing and television industry. Amongst his major published works is a series of large scale oil paintings done for "Shiki", a serial graphic novel by one of Japan's most famous manga artists, Mitsuteru Yokoyama. The paintings were well received by critics and helped to break records for number of reprints for the serial. His other major works are the "Three Kingdoms" and "Gekka no Kishi" of cover illustrations.

  Outside of his commercial works, He Qing has also participated in many collaborative and individual art shows in the galleries of Canada, America, China, Japan and Holland. With 10 international art awards of various achievements, He Qing's paintings are avidly collected by galleries and art connisseurs.

He Qing also is a menber of  The Portrait Society of America.
